Utilities are typically included, allowing residents to live independently without supervision. While we are unable to assist with emergency housing needs or act as an intermediary in securing housing elsewhere, we want to ensure you get the right help. Umoja Refuge is not staffed like assisted living or group homes. Our model is independent shared housing, meaning residents live autonomously. We do provide regular property oversight, maintenance support, and weekly check-ins to help ensure safety and comfort.

Monthly costs vary by property, room type, and location. Our goal is to keep housing competitively priced and affordable for working adults and individuals on fixed incomes. Contact us for current availability and specific pricing details.

We do not provide daily meals or transportation services. Residents are welcome to coordinate meal deliveries, grocery services, or outside transportation as needed. Our locations are selected with convenient access to public transit and rideshare options whenever possible.

Independent living does not include hands-on personal care or medical supervision. Residents with higher care needs may live with us as long as they are supported by an appropriate third-party caregiver or service provider. If your needs increase over time, you may continue your stay provided outside support remains in place to ensure your safety and well-being.
